Academic Credit and PDUsCredit OptionsProfessional Development for Educators workshops are offered with a one credit option. The cost per credit at the undergraduate level is $81. A graduate level credit is $109. Academic credit is typically earned for course work completed during a ten-week academic quarter. The University of Oregon requires at least ten hours of in class or contact time and twenty hours for out-of-class on assignments for one credit unit. One hour of academic credit can be earned by attending a workshop and successfully completing an out-of-class assignment. These assignments generally include some required reading, a reaction paper and a project that allows participants to apply what has been learned at the workshop, in the classroom or in another professional setting. The due date for the paper/project is usually four to six weeks after the workshop. Participants seeking the credit option for a one-day workshop will also participate in extended sessions and distance education components. These may include lunch assignments, post-workshop sessions, and activities such as follow-up assignments and online discussions with the presenter. Credit requirements for specific workshops are listed online and will be available on-site. They can also be requested a week ahead by calling (800) 824-2714 or (541) 346-4231 or by e-mailing the program coordinator at ctrinfo PDUsAll participants receive a certificate that verifies their participation, the number of hours of instruction associated with the workshop and the equivalent number of PDUs. |
